Graphic Artist Chermidy Talks About How He Got His Start
Instagram is truly a great tool for networking and accessing talent. This is where I found this dope ass artist named Chermidy. It all started when I was scrambling to get my shit together for my DJ Set at Wall Lounge.
While completing my daily trolling on Instagram I came across this artist and knew I had to look no further. I reached out and he got right to work. After such a great experience, I wanted to know more. How did he even up starting this idea? What inspires him? What does he plan to do with it?
We were able to glimpse of his mind in the interview below. Read his responses, check out his art, and reach out to him to get your portrait piece drawn as well.
How did you begin doing this?
Everything started with me needing a logo done in this same style by another artist, but he never answered my request, so I decided to try doing it myself. Turned out, I liked it and started drawing singers or objects in general just as a hobby. I never expected people to like it and even start doing commissions.
What inspires you?
I love minimalism and aesthetic art. Drawing in such a simple style relaxes me a lot and puts me in a really chill mood.
What do you like drawing the most?
Even though most of my artworks are portraits of people, what I actually enjoy drawing the most are objects. Recently I also started drawing hands, and for some reason, the outcome of it really pleases me.
What’s your goal for the future?
This is still a hobby despite everything, and I have no plans for this in general but honestly, I always loved the idea of creating a clothing brand with these simple designs. My goal in life and in general is to create a product or service with a customized touch from me that people can identify with. Like passing my feelings to others.
Have you thought about animation?
A lot, and I’m actually also a content creator (videos for a youtube channel), but I’d need a lot of time to learn how to use an animating software. For now I’ll stick to drawing but hopefully, someday I’ll learn how to animate!
